Overview

Integrated Science focuses on developing students’ scientific habits of mind and skills of inquiry and design. Through experiments and hands-on activities, students learn scientific concepts and processes while also developing generic skills.

In the lesson, students will

  • engage in the process of inquiry and design;
  • conduct hands-on investigation and learning activities;
  • acquire and apply scientific and technological concepts;
  • develop a responsible attitude towards science and technology in relation to our dynamic society.

Curriculum Framework

A-School's long‑established primary Science curriculum is built on the Cambridge Primary Science Curriculum, which aligns with the National Curriculum for England and provides clear, rigorous learning. We also ensure full alignment with the local EDB Science (Primary 1–6) Curriculum Framework, giving students a strong foundation in scientific knowledge, skills, and attitudes.

Each grade’s Integrated Science curriculum covers the key domains of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Scientific Inquiry, helping students develop curiosity, problem‑solving skills, and confidence in hands‑on investigation.

Our unique, comprehensive programme is further strengthened through ongoing advice and support from science academics in Hong Kong tertiary institutions, including contributors to the EDB curriculum, ensuring our teaching remains current, robust, and research‑informed.

  • Biology – living things and how they interact.
  • Chemistry – the study of matter.
  • Physics – the interaction of matter and energy.
  • Earth and Space – planet Earth, the wider Solar System, and beyond.
  • Thinking and Working Scientifically – develops understanding of scientific models and representations, and skills in inquiry and practical work.
  • Science in Context – helps teachers demonstrate the relevance of science to learners and is unique to our science curriculum.

Subject week

Our science curriculum is enriched by dedicated subject weeks. The theme-based subject weeks are specifically designed to promote the fun, interactive side of science outside classrooms and laboratories.

Flexible learning spaces

Our team has intentionally redesigned various campus areas to foster student-centered, active, and collaborative learning. Skyline Garden, Solomon InnoLab & InnoCAVE, and the Endangered Species Museum can serve as the classroom for our science lessons.
